Abstract

In recent, inquiry-based learning is gaining popularity in science curricula, especially for international research and development projects as well as teaching and learning science. One of the underlying reasons is that its success can be significantly improved due to the recent technical developments that allow the inquiry process to be supported by various learning environments including information technology. Inquiry-based learning is often organized into inquiry phases that focused to build students process science skills. However, different variations on what is called the inquiry competence can be found throughout the literature. The current article focuses on identifying and summarizing the core features of inquiry-based learning by means of a systematic literature review and develops a synthesized inquiry process that combines the strengths of existing inquiry-based learning frameworks for enhancing students achievement. The review was conducted using the Web of Science and ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) data base; a total of 15 articles describing inquiry phases or whole inquiry process were selected based on specific search criteria. An analysis of the articles resulted in the identification of five distinct general inquiry phases: Orientation, Conceptualization, Investigation, Discussion and Conclusion. Inquiry-based learning usually ends with the Conclusion phase. Based on analysis almost of the study showed that inquiry-based learning has shown students’ increasing in cognitive achievement significantly. Akhir-akhir ini, pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri semakin populer di kurikulum sains, terutama untuk penelitian dan pengembangan dan pembelajaran sains global. Salah satu alasan utamanya adalah keberhasilannya dalam meningkatkan kompetensi belajar sains siswa secara signifikan, yang perkembangannya saat ini sangat memungkinkan terjadinya proses inkuiri yang didukung oleh berbagai lingkungan belajar termasuk teknologi informasi. Pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri sering disusun dalam fase penyelidikan yang berfokus untuk membangun kemampuan sains bagi para siswa. Namun, variasi yang berbeda mengenai makna kompetensi penyelidikan sering kita temukan di berbagai literatur. Artikel ini berfokus untuk mengidentifikasi dan meringkas fitur inti dari pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri melalui metode meta analisis, mengkaji literatur secara sistematis dan mengembangkan proses penyelidikan yang disintesis dengan menggabungkan kekuatan kerangka kerja pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri yang ada untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan basis data dari Web of Science dan ERIC (Education Resources Information Center); Sebanyak 15 artikel yang menjelaskan tahap penyelidikan atau keseluruhan proses penyelidikan dipilih berdasarkan kriteria pencarian yang spesifik. Analisis terhadap artikel menghasilkan identifikasi lima fase penyelidikan umum yang dapat berbeda secara istilah satu sama lainnya yaitu: Orientasi, Konseptualisasi, Investigasi, Diskusi dan Kesimpulan. Disamping itu, hampir seluruh pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri biasanya berakhir dengan fase Kesimpulan. Berdasarkan analisis di seluruh hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri telah berhasil menunjukkan peningkatan penguasaan aspek kognitif siswa secara signifikan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to findout the effectiveness of module with inquiry model to improve the student’s scientific process skill to wards heat material. The research design used was quasi-experimental design in the form of nonequivalent pretest-postest control group design. Based on the results of the effectiveness test, it was known that the value of n-gain experimental class was 0.62. It was greater than the control class with the score was 0.40. Students scientificprocess skills also increased for each indicator. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the module by using inquiry modelwasthe effectiveto improve the students scientific process skills. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas modul untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan proses sains  siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental design dalam bentuk nonequivalent pretes-postes control group design. Berdasarkan hasil uji efektivitas, maka diketahui bahwa nilai n-gain kelas eksperimen (0,62) > kelas kontrol (0,40). Keterampilan proses sains siswa mengalami peningkatan untuk setiap indikator. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul dengan model inkuiri telah efektif dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan proses sains siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the students’ science literacy through the application of STEM-Based Worksheet (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) on sound waves learning the material. The research used mixed-method with exploratory sequential design in the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. This study involved 25 eighth grade students of class F as the experimental class and 25 eighth grade students of class A as the control class in SMP Negeri 2 Pugung. The data collecting techniques were observation method, questionnaire, and test. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-test to see the effectiveness of the learning in both groups. The questionnaire results were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the application of STEM-based worksheet could effectively increase the science literacy with N-gain of 0.43 (medium category). The highest increase was in the indicator of “explains the science phenomenon" and the lowest was on the "drawing conclusions" indicator. The results of the students’ questionnaire responses after using the developed worksheet was 92,73 (very high category). This means that the developed students’ worksheets effective in increasing science literacy.

Abstract

The graph interpretation ability is an important ability for students in conducting physics experiments. The tracker application in straight motion topic can track objects precisely and accurately. This research aims to find out how the effect of tracker use on straight-motion learning based on guided inquiry on the ability of students' graph interpretation. The sample of this research is students of class X, in one of the State Senior High School in Bandar Lampung. The research design used was one group pretest-posttest. Learning is carried out by conducting guided inquiry-based straight-line experiment activities, then processing experimental data by analyzing experimental videos using tracker software. Data on students' interpretation ability is obtained using a test (pretest-posttest). Data analysis techniques for student learning outcomes using Paired Sample T-Test. Based on the results of the research obtained the average score of the ability to interpret the graph increased by 59.00% with a high mean of N-gain (0.71) at a 95% confidence level. These results indicate that learning by using a tracker can improve the ability to interpret graphics very well. Based on the test results obtained a significance of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that there are significant differences in the ability of students to interpret graphics before and after learning using a tracker.

Abstract

Any improvement effort made without the support of quality teacher performance will not possibly work well to help enhance high-quality education. High teacher performance is influenced by many factors. Theoretically, one important factor is principal managerial competency. However, how this factor influences teacher performance is under-researched, particularly in Bandar Lampung schools. This study aimed at investigating the influence of principal managerial competence on teacher performance in public vocational high schools in Bandar Lampung. This study used a quantitative research design, using a questionnaire of which its validity and reliability were ensured before data collection. The samples of the research were 88 teachers from nine vocational high schools in Bandar Lampung City, Lampung Province, Indonesia. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple regression, with the help of SPSS version 24. Results showed that principal managerial competence positively and significantly influenced teacher performance in public vocational high schools in Bandar Lampung. This study recommends the whole stakeholders to pay more attention and to evaluate the principals’ performance.
